Shameless congratulations to myself as a recipient to a teaching award due to my two recent teaching innovations. (I thought I should have been given two awards for my two innovations. LoL!)
The personalized exam papers (1000 versions of exam papers for 1000 students) was developed to address the cheating problem during online exam from 2019 to 2022. Subsequently, this innovation helps transform the usual paper-and-pen exams to exams that allow students to use computers and packages within. The use of computing packages lowers the barriers of algebraic calculations and thus allows us to test a bigger variety of concepts in a typical two-hour test. Just as a taste, here is an example of questions we can ask (and many students can solve with the computing tools) in our Introductory Microeconomics course. We would not dream of asking such meaningful policy questions if the test has to be in paper and pen (with hand-held calculators, of course).
Referring to the supply and demand equations of the labor market in Utopia, if the Utopian government has a budget of 3 million dollars to encourage employment as much as possible via subsidy, what must be the per unit subsidy?
